Papini Agostino S.n.c. was established in the mid-1920s by master craftsman Giacomo Papini, and assisted by his sons Agostino and Renzo, to produce fountains, statues and architectural ornament “inspired by old world masterpieces”. The business is still family-owned, headed by Giacomo’s grandchildren.
Barbara says, "A single bust, a pair of busts or a group of busts—I'm a fan of them all. What is it that copies of Greek and Roman busts convey that we still like today in almost any setting? The purity of the form, the understated elegance of a single drape over a shoulder and the idealized faces of a romantic past".
