Bird Bath with Kneeling Dwarf
An unusual carved wooden birdbath in the form of a kneeling bearded dwarf, holding a leafy basin on his head, the basin lined with lead sheeting, Scottish (by repute), ca. 1880. 28 ins. high, 20 ins. wide, 22 ins. deep.
Barbara says, "This will only appeal to the special person who loves fine carving and enjoys fantasy and folk histories. This gentleman is permanently holding aloft a bath for the birds made possible by very resilient and strong materials fashioned into an Atlas-type character who appears to have inhabited 'The Lord of the Rings'".
