A pair of stoneware figures representing Erato, the Greek muse of lyrical poetry and hymns, shown in classical robes and holding a scroll of music and a cithara (an ancient Greek instrument similar to a lyre), and Clio, the Greek muse of history, shown in classical robes and holding a book, English, ca. 1900, on an associated pair of terra-cotta pedestals with molded base and top, the sides ornamented with spread-wing eagles, French, ca. 1900. Each statue 62 ins. high, 20 ins. wide, 20 ins. deep, 15 ins. square at base; each pedestal 22 ins. high, 22 ins. wide, 22 ins. deep.
