A pair of small cast-iron urns, each body of bulbous, semi-lobed form, the flared rims and circular integral bases ornamented with egg and dart motif, marked “Deville Paillette & Cie”, French, ca. 1880, 11 ins. high, on contemporary bases 5 ins. high, 9 ins. square.
Deville Pailliette & Cie operating in Charleville, in the Ardennes region of northern France, produced cast-iron stoves and decorative wares throughout the 1880s and 90s and into the early 1900s. The firm was a noted exhibitor at the Paris Exposition of 1900.
